20 spots and counting
Annie has chicken pox.It has been going around her daycare centre for the last few weeks and we were expecting it.But still, not nice when it actually happens. The spots are starting to appear and her temperature is still very high and she has been delirious a couple of times today already. And,grief, this sounds awful, but it is kind of nice when she gets delirious as she speaks English.Recentley, she has been talking so much in Japanese and her English is on the side-lines and I have to pull it out of her which makes me feel like a teacher rather than a parent. But give this kid a fever and hey presto, the English flows..."Mummy,look in sky.Airplane and moon.Miffy hello.Noodles and rice.Come here.No no no.Potty.I love you.Pick it up,please". Works for me.

Awwww poor, delirious Annie. I don`t suppose you caught any of it on video tape? Not that I would suggest that AT ALL!
Seriously, I hope she is feeling better soon and that she keeps speaking English even without the illness!
Poor Annie, I hope she gets to feeling better soon. If you need some fever reducer for kids, I'd be willing to send it to you immediately!
Also....this is what I pulled online. Let me cut and paste it. Although I'm sure you know this already.
Treatment of chicken pox is usually limited to bed rest, acetaminophen for relief of fever and discomfort, and measures that soothe the itching, including lukewarm baths and application of topical medicines such as calamine lotion. Excessive scratching can cause infection of blisters, which can lead to scarring.
I'm really feeling for you both. I had the chicken pox when I was a kid and remember them! I had zero appetite. High fever and was miserable which made my poor mom miserable as well! I was covered in pink calamine lotion all over my spots, yikes!
Get well soon Annie, and I know it must be hard on you as well Marianne.
TM,as if I would even think about taking a video of my little angel in that condition.....and can you believe that our digiital camera was also out of batteries??!!!!!Damn.Foiled again!!Needless to say both video and camera batteries have been recharged and waiting on hold;-)
Gina, thanks so much for your very very kind offer of fever reducer. Her fever dropped to normal yesterday morning so she is on a normal toddler high now, thank goodness! But so many spots...counted over 100 last night when I put her cream on and she has more new ones this morning. And her cream is a mixture of calamine lotion and something else so not pink(I remember that stuff too!) but the smell brings back so many memories!
Glad her fever is down! I was about to offer you some calpol but Gina got there first! LOL! I hope she recovers soon, itchy spots are a nightmare! It is a good thing she got it now rather than later though. Maybe I should bring Joey up to see you guys so he can catch it too...
Midori, your comment about coming to visit with Joey made me laugh because I was thinking about offering Annie out to anyone who wants their child to get chicken pox!!You are more than welcome to come and give it a go;-)
